An Air Canada Embraer ERJ-190, registration C-FHIQ performing flight AC-1299 from Tampa,FL (USA) to Halifax,NS (Canada) with 100 people on bord, was on approach to Halifax when the crew received a "SLAT FAIL" message upon selecting the flaps to position 1. The crew went around, worked the related checklists, declared PAN and performed a slat 1 full flaps landing on Halifax's runway 32, following inspection the aircraft taxied to the apron.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance replaced the faulty slat/flap actuator electronic control.
