A United Boeing 737-700, registration N27722 performing flight UA-1019 from Houston Intercontinental,TX to Santa Ana,CA (USA), was enroute at FL380 about 80nm westnorthwest of Austin,TX when the crew received some flap indication and descended the aircraft to FL300. After levelling off at FL300, about 150nm westnorthwest of Austin, the crew decided to turn around and divert to Austin, where the aircraft landed safely on runway 35L about one hour after leaving FL380.

Austin Emergency services reported their level 2 alert was downgraded after the Boeing 737 landed safely.

The occurrence aircraft was able to depart Austin after about 3 hours on the ground but needed to be redirected to Los Angeles,CA for a safe landing about 4:45 hours past scheduled landing in Santa Ana.
