The aircraft departed again after about 14:20 hours on the ground and reached Mombasa with a delay of about 21 hours.
A Court in Malta heard the young couple (24 and 23) had an increasingly heated argument enroute when the female told passengers around he was carrying drugs. A flight attendant however overheard that information and informed the captain who decided to divert to Malta. A subsequent search by police brought about 18 grams of cannabis resin. The male pleaded guilty and was sentenced to serve three years but discharged on probation.
