A British Airways Airbus A320-200, registration G-EUUD performing flight BA-713 from Zurich (Switzerland) to London Heathrow,EN (UK), was in the initial climb out of Zurich's runway 28 when just after becoming airborne the aircraft accelerated the climb to more than 3500 feet per minute with air- and groundspeed reducing until the aircraft reached about 1500 feet AGL before the climb rate normalized and the aircraft began to accelerate again.

At the same time a helicopter, which had departed Zurich and was climbing through about 500 feet AGL, substantially slowed its climb for about 30 seconds.

Both aircraft continued to their destinations for safe landings.

The Swiss Accident Investigation Board (SAIB), also known as BFU Switzerland, reported the loss of separation as "close encounter between a helicopter and an airliner both departing on their standard instrument departure."

An investigation has been opened.
