An Iran Aseman Airlines Boeing 727-200, registration EP-ASD performing flight EP-550 from Tehran Imam Khomeini (Iran) to Yerevan (Armenia) with 124 people on board, was climbing out of Tehran's Imam Khomeini Airport when the crew did not receive indication that the gear had fully retracted and locked up. The crew stopped the climb at FL115, the aircraft entered a hold at 8000 feet to work the related checklists and subsequently burned off fuel before returning to Tehran's Mehrabad Airport, while emergency services foamed parts of runway 29L for the return. The aircraft landed smoothly and safely on runway 29L about 105 minutes after departure.

Iran's Civil Aviation Organisation reported the crew received indication of the gear disagreeing with the commanded position. The aircraft returned to Tehran for a safe landing about 105 minutes after departure.

A replacement Boeing 727-200 registration EP-ASB reached Yerevan with a delay of about 5 hours.
