An Ikar Airlines Boeing 767-300, registration VP-BMC performing flight IK-2889 from Haikou (China) to Ekaterinburg (Russia) with 231 passengers and 17 crew, was enroute when the crew received indications that the right hand generator (engine PW-4060) was malfunctioning. The generator was shut down, the APU generator engaged and the crew decided to continue the flight. About two hours into the flight the crew received indication the APU generator developed a fault as well prompting the crew to divert the aircraft to Wuhan (China) for a safe landing.

West Siberia's Transportation Prosecution Office reported an investigation has been opened into the occurrence to ensure passenger rights are being observed. A replacement aircraft is expected to arrive in Wuhan to take the passengers to Ekatarinburg.

24 hours after landing in Wuhan there is no indication yet that the incident aircraft is able to continue the flight or a replacement aircraft has been dispatched to Wuhan.
