A Mahan Airlines Avro RJ-100, registration EP-MOH performing flight W5-1039 from Tehran Mehradbad to Rafsanjan (Iran) with 68 passengers, was descending towards Rafsanjan when the aircraft suffered a hydraulic failure. The crew decided to divert to Kerman, about 46nm east of Rafsanjan, because of the longer runway (3500 instead of 3000 meters long) and better facilities available in Kerman. The aircraft landed safely on Kerman's runway 34 but got disabled on the runway.

The airport was closed for about 90 minutes until the aircraft was towed off the runway.

The passengers were bussed to Rafsanjan.

The aircraft was able to depart Kerman as flight WZ-1038 from Kerman to Mehrabad about 3 hours after landing.
