A Cathay Pacific Airbus A340-300, registration B-HXJ performing flight CX-207 from Hong Kong (China) to Moscow Domodedovo (Russia), was in the initial climb out of Hong Kong's runway 07R when the crew reported technical problems and requested to level off at 7000 feet. The crew subsequently indicated they had a problem with the gear and needed to return to Hong Kong. The aircraft climbed to 9000 feet, dumped fuel and returned to Hong Kong for a safe landing on runway 07L about 85 minutes after departure.

A replacement Airbus A340-300 registration B-HXD reached Moscow with a delay of 26 hours.
