A South Supreme Airlines Fokker 50, registration C5-SSA performing a scheduled flight from Juba to Aweil (South Sudan), landed on Aweil's runway but veered right off the runway and came to a stop in rough terrain with the nose gear collapsed. No injuries occurred, the aircraft received substantial damage however.

There is conflicting information about the actual date of the accident, which is said to have occurred on Jan 6th or Jan 7th. The most concrete information identifies Jan 7th.

According to local information the aircraft suffered a brakes failure causing the aircraft veer off the runway. There are attempts ongoing to have the aircraft repaired.

The airline did not respond to inquiries by The Aviation Herald attempting to clarify the conflicting information.

The Dutch Onderzoeksraad reported in their quarterly report released on Apr 25th 2014, that the accident occurred on Jan 7th 2014. According to local authorities the aircraft suffered a brakes problem, went off the runway during roll out and came to a stop in rough terrain with the nose gear collapsed. Sudan's AAICD have opened an investigation into the accident.

South Supreme Airlines based in Juba (South Sudan) were formed out of former Feeder Airlines, who used to operate two Fokker 50, registrations ST-NEX and ST-NEW. ST-NEX was lost in an accident in Wau (South Sudan), see Accident: Feeder F50 at Wau on Mar 29th 2012, runway excursion, ST-NEW was re-registered from (North) Sudan to Gambia. South Supreme Airlines performed their inaugural flight on Sep 7th 2013.

Aweil Airstrip, located about 2.4nm northwest of Aweil's city center at coordinates N8.7931 E27.3603, offers an unpaved runway of about 2000 meters/6600 feet length in roughly north/south direction, the condition of which has already caused the loss of another Fokker 50, see Accident: Skyward F50 at Aweil on Nov 15th 2012, gear collapse, runway excursion.
