A Boliviana de Aviacion Boeing 737-300, registration CP-2552 performing flight OB-616 from Cochabamba to La Paz (Bolivia) with 131 people on board, was on short final to one of La Paz's runways 28 around 18:00L (22:00Z) when the crew felt windshear but were not able to prevent the aircraft from touching down hard on the runway. The aircraft rolled out in severe vibrations, stopped on the runway, shut down the engines and was towed to the terminal about 40 minutes after landing.

Passengers reported the final approach was quite turbulent, the aircraft touched down hard and rolled out in severe vibrations. The crew announced that the aircraft had experienced what the crew perceived as windshear and touched down hard, there had been damage to the nose gear or tyres. Passengers subsequently saw the nose gear tyres were damaged.

An observer on the ground reported the nose tyres were damaged however not flat, the aircraft was not on the rims of the nose wheels.

The airline reported a windshear caused a sudden increase in speed of the aircraft, the crew however was able to control the situation and touched down at a higher speed than normal due to the wind.
