An Air Canada Airbus A330-300, registration C-GHLM performing flight AC-844 from Calgary,AB (Canada) to Frankfurt/Main (Germany) with 251 people on board, had taxied to the holding point runway 34 but was unable to depart and returned to the apron. The aircraft was cleared to taxi via taxiway C and hold short runway 26. The ground controller subsequently noticed that the aircraft did not slow upon approaching runway 26, the controller reiterated the instruction to hold short of runway 26. The crew applied brakes however could not stop the aircraft before it was half way onto runway 26. A North Cariboo Flying Beech 200 on short final about 0.5 nm before the runway threshold was instructed to go around as result of the runway incursion.

The Canadian TSB reported that visibility was in excess of 40 statute miles and the Beech 200 was clearly visible clear of cloud.
