An Air France Airbus A340-300, registration F-GLZM performing flight AF-3508 from Paris Orly (France) to Cayenne (French Guiana) with 279 people on board, was enroute over the Atlantic Ocean at FL340 about 300nm southsouthwest of Lajes, Terceira Island (Portugal), when the crew suspected a fuel leak, descended the aircraft to FL250 and diverted to Lajes for a safe landing about 60 minutes later. Attending emergency services did not notice any leakage.

A replacement Airbus A340-300 registration F-GLZI was dispatched from Paris to Lajes and resumed the journey the following day reaching Cayenne with a delay of 26.5 hours.

The incident aircraft has not yet left Terceira Island (standing Jun 17th 21:00Z, about 30 hours after landing).
