A Gojet Canadair CRJ-700 on behalf of Delta Airlines, flight G7-6256/DL-6256 from New York La Guardia,NY to Portland,ME (USA), was in the initial climb out of La Guardia's runway 13 when the crew reported an engine fire indication prompting final approach to immediately pull two aircraft already cleared to join the localizer runway 04 off the approach to get the emergency back onto the ground. The crew upon contacting final approach indicated they needed some more time to run the checklists, the two aircraft pulled off the approach were thus vectored to rejoin the localizer. The Gojet crew indicated about 10 minutes later they were now ready for the approach and were vectored for the approach to runway 04, the crew reported to tower they had an engine fire indication on the right hand engine and queried whether any tyre debris had been found on the runway otherwise suspecting they had suffered a bird strike. Tower responded he wasn't aware of any debris on the departure runway. The aircraft landed safely on runway 04 about 20 minutes after departure and vacated the runway.

The FAA reported the crew reported an engine failure.

The airline said the aircraft landed safely and taxied back to the terminal.
