A British Airways Boeing 767-300, registration G-BNWU performing flight BA-93 from London Heathrow,EN (UK) to Toronto,ON (Canada), was enroute at FL340 about 200nm off the coast of Ireland when a male passenger in his 70ies appeared increasingly nerveous and agitated until the situation escalated prompting crew to report an air rage and have the unruly restrained. The captain subsequently requested medical services and police to await the aircraft in Shannon (Ireland) reporting the incident was more of a medical emergency, while the aircraft approached the airport and entered a holding to burn off fuel to bring the aircraft down to maximum landing weight. The aircraft landed safely on runway 24 about 90 minutes after turning around, the unruly passenger was taken to a hospital by medical services escorted by police. It turned out the passenger was suffering from Parkinson's Disease and was on medication, his behaviour was the result of his illness. Police as well as crew regarded the occurrence a medical emergency in the end and took no further action. The aircraft departed Shannon for Toronto after about 2 hours on the ground and is estimated to reach Toronto with a delay of 5 hours.
