Gol B737 at Imperatriz and Sao Luiz on Feb 5th 2013, fuel emergency, landing below final fuel reserve

A Gol Linhas Aereas Boeing 737-700, registration PR-VBI performing flight G3-1742 from Brasilia,DF to Imperatriz,MA (Brazil) with 52 people on board, was on final approach to Imperatriz when the crew went around when the approach became unstable. The aircraft positioned for a second approach and was again on final approach when the crew went around a second time this time due to fog obscuring the runway environment. During climb out the crew declared emergency reporting being low on fuel and diverted to Sao Luiz,MA (Brazil) about 260nm northeast of Imperatriz. The aircraft landed safely at Sao Luiz at 23:40L (02:40Z Feb 6th) about 100 minutes past scheduled arrival in Imperatriz.

On Mar 30th 2013 the NTSB reported the occurrence stating, that the aircraft landed with 550kg/1210lbs of fuel remaining. Brazil's CENIPA have opened an investigation into the serious incident, the NTSB has appointed an accredited representative to the investigation.
