A Niki Airbus A321-200, registration OE-LET performing flight HG-2715 from Malaga,SP (Spain) to Vienna (Austria), had safely landed in Vienna, taxied to and stopped at gate C41. The jetway had extended and docked to the forward left main door and the cabin prepared for disembarking when the jetway suddenly lifted about 1.5 meters up, entangled with the aircraft door and lifted the aircraft by about 20 cm (8 inches) until the aircraft door separated from the fuselage causing the aircraft to fall back onto the apron. Passengers and crew on board of the aircraft subsequently disembarked through the rear door and were taken to an enclosed area, where all passengers were asked, whether they were injured. At that time all passengers said they were fine.

Subsequently a female passenger (76) felt pain and on Tuesday (May 8th) was diagnosed with the fracture of her coccyx.

The aircraft received substantial damage.

The airline confirmed the A321 was lifted by the jetway and fell back onto the apron, the aircraft has been out of service since.

The airport reported medical assistance was offered to all passengers following the A321 being lifted by the jetway, however no passenger reported pain or injuries at the time. The jetway had correctly docket at the aircraft, the failure of a sensor however caused the jetway to suddenly lift taking the aircraft door and aircraft with it.
