A Hokkaido Air System Avions de Transport Regional ATR-42-600 on behalf of JAL Japan Airlines, registration JA13HC performing flight JL-2891 from Hakodate to Okushiri (Japan), was on approach to Okushiri Island when the aircraft entered a hold due to problems with the left hand aileron. The crew subsequently decided to return to Hakodate, climbed to FL150 and landed safely on Hakodate's runway 30 about one hour after departure.

The aircraft is still on the ground in Hakodate about 15 hours after landing back.
