A British Airways Boeing 747-400, registration G-BNLK performing positioning flight BA-9171 from Cardiff,WL to London Heathrow,EN (UK), was climbing through about FL130 when the #2 engine (RB211, left inboard) surged prompting the crew to stop the climb at FL140. The crew continued the flight to Heathrow for a safe landing about 40 minutes after departure.

The aircraft had undergone maintenance in Cardiff since Jan 8th 2013 and was about to resume service.
