An Air Canada Airbus A320-200, registration C-FGYS performing flight AC-114 from Edmonton,AB to Toronto,ON (Canada) with 152 people on board, was enroute at FL330 about 100nm east of Winnipeg,MB (Canada) when APU generator automatically shut down prompting the crew to divert to Winnipeg for a safe landing about 30 minutes later.

The Canadian TSB reported the aircraft had been dispatched under minimum equipment list requirements with the left hand generator (engine CFM56) inoperative. After the APU generator shut down automatically the crew attempted to restore the APU generator however without success and diverted to Winnipeg. The generator control unit and the APU were replaced.

A replacement Airbus A320-200 reached Toronto with a delay of 3 hours.
