A United Boeing 767-300, registration N665UA performing flight UA-147 from London Heathrow,EN (UK) to Newark,NJ (USA) with 70 passengers and 11 crew, was climbing through FL180 out of Heathrow's runway 27R when the crew stopped the climb and descended to FL180 initially. The crew decided to return to Heathrow advising the left hand engine (PW4060) had failed and was shut down. The aircraft landed safely back on Heathrow's runway 27R about 55 minutes after departure.

The airline reported a mechanical issue.
