A Karun Airlines Fokker 100, registration EP-AWZ performing flight KRU-2681 from Sirjan to Tehran Mehrabad (Iran) with 101 passengers and 8 crew, landed on Tehran's runway 29L but blew both left hand main tyres and became disabled on the runway. The aircraft received substantial damage.

Iran's Civil Aviation Authority reported they have opened an investigation after the aircraft was stopped on the runway due to a landing gear malfunction. The passengers disembarked normally, the runway however needed to be closed with the traffic using the other runway.

On Jan 23rd 2025 Iran's Civil Aviation Authority reported the aircraft took off from Sirjan's runway 31 but encountered vibrations on departure. The crew continued the takeoff and flight. Upon touch down on Mehrabad's runway 29L the aircraft experienced again severe vibrations causing the aircraft to shimmy on the runway and finally spinning to the right to a heading of about 60 degrees. The aircraft could be towed off the runway after about 4 hours, the runway was reopened. An inspection of the departure runway 31 in Sirjan revealed zig-zag lines of the wheels on the runway surface, brake connections, wheel pins, weight and temperature sensors had separated from the left hand main gear. Subsequently the flaps were not working. Without advising ATC the crew performed a flapless landing into Mehrabad thus touching down at high speed. On inspection after landing it was found tyre #1 (outboard left main) had deflated, tyre #2 (inboard left main) had separated from the gear together with the rim and impacted the left wing. Hydraulic oil was leaking out of the shimmy dampers. Due to the forces the aircraft incurred both landing gear struts will be replaced.
