An Aerosucre Boeing 727-200 freighter, registration HK-5216 performing flight A4-372 from Bogota (Colombia) to Valencia (Venezuela), was departing Bogota's runway 14L when the aircraft overran the end of the runway at 16:42L (21:42Z) and after becoming airborne contacted a localizer antenna before climbing out to safety. The aircraft entered holds before returning to Bogota for a landing on runway 14R without further incident about one hour after departure.

Colombia's Civil Aviation Authority reported the Boeing 727-200 cargo aircraft collided with a localizer antenna at the north runway (14L) during takeoff, completed the takeoff, burned off fuel and returned to Bogota. The aircraft sustained damage to its landing gear and left wing. The CAA is examining the damage caused to the localizer and its impact onto airport operations (editorial note: no NOTAMs were published regarding the ILS). Colombia's Aircraft Accident Investigation are investigating.

On Dec 12th 2024 Colombia's DIACC released their preliminary report in Spanish stating that the conditions for takeoff were not favourable due to 12 knots tailwind, the aircraft therefore waited about 15 minutes for improvement. When the wind calmed a bit, takeoff commenced, ATC reported the wind from 280 degrees at 9 knots. The crew performed a rolling takeoff, which consumed the entire length of the runway. After rotation the crew heard a bang, which they thought was related to the landing gear and stopped the climb at 15,000 feet. A runway inspection did not find anything on the runway, the crew advised of possible gear damage and decided to return to Bogota. After burning fuel to reduce the weight to maximum landing weight the aircraft landed back on runway 14R.

A subsequentl inspection revealed damage to the left inboard main wheel, left flaps and left slats amongst other damage.
