A UPS United Parcel Service McDonnel Douglas MD-11 freighter, registration N276UP performing flight 5X-975 from Portland,OR to Ontario,CA (USA), was enroute at FL390 about 100nm east of Sacramento,CA (USA) when the crew donned their oxygen masks and decided to divert to Sacramento Mather Airport reporting a burning odour and smoke on board. The aircraft landed safely on Mather's runway 22L and stopped on the runway. The crew evacuated via emergency slide.

Sacramento's emergency services reported there were no injuries, the aircraft needed to be towed off the runway.
