An Etihad Airways Airbus A330-200, registration A6-EYF performing flight EY-1A from Munich to Frankfurt/Main (Germany), was on final approach to Frankfurt's runway 25L when all three airspeed indications (left, right, standby) were regarded invalid by the crew. The crew was able to continue for a safe landing on runway 25L about 2 minutes later.

On Jan 29th 2013 The French BEA reported the loss of all three airspeed indications, the German BFU is investigating the serious incident. On Feb 6th 2013 the BEA added in their weekly bulletin, that the readout of flight data recorder did not confirm the loss of all three airspeed indications, the investigation is ongoing.

On Jan 30th 2013 the investigator leading this investigation at the German BFU told The Aviation Herald, that the crew believed all three air speed indications were invalid due to their observations, there were no flags or ECAM indications. The BFU was notified about the loss of all three airspeed indications, downloaded the flight data recorder and found that the indicated airspeeds properly correlated with the actual ground speed. A mismatch between active automation modes and pilot expectation is currently considered as a working theory.

The aircraft performing flight EY-1 from Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) to Frankfurt had previously diverted to Munich due to weather.
