An Emirates Boeing 777-300, registration A6-EBQ performing flight EK-210 (dep Nov 24th) from Newark,NJ (USA) to Athens (Greece), was enroute at FL330 about 100nm east of St. John's,NL (Canada) about to enter Oceanic Airspace when the crew decided to turn around and divert to Boston,MA (USA) reporting an equipment failure. The aircraft descended to FL320 for the diversion and landed safely on Boston's runway 04R about 3 hours after the decision to divert advising tower no assistance was needed.

The airline reported a technical fault, the passengers have been rebooked.

The aircraft was still on the ground in Boston about 53 hours after landing.

On Dec 21st 2023 Canada's TSB reported: "While in cruise flight at about 47°34' N, 052°22' W an overspeed warning activated while in smooth air at FL350. A descent to FL 330 was made while troubleshooting was carried out. The airspeed indications were compared and the QRH was consulted. The flight crew consulted with their maintenance control center, and it was decided that airspeed was unreliable and a diversion to Boston Logan International Airport (KBOS), MA would be taken. The flight crew declared PAN PAN and diverted to KBOS to land without further incident. Maintenance inspection determined that a faulty VMO switch caused the unreliable airspeed readings."
