An Air Transat Airbus A321-200, registration C-GEZN performing flight TS-865 from Calgary,AB to Toronto,ON (Canada) with 189 people on board, was climbing out of Calgary's runway 17L when both left and right hand engines (CFM56) showed "ENG1 EGT OVER LIMIT" and "ENG2 EGT OVER LIMIT". The crew stopped the climb at about 9500 feet and reduced thrust which extinguished the ENG1 EGT OVER LIMIT, the right hand engine remained over EGT limit. The crew decided to reduce the right hand engine to idle thrust, declared PAN PAN and returned to Calgary for a safe landing on runway 17L about 30 minutes after departure.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance visually inspected both engines, the left hand engine was found serviceable, the right hand engine required to undergo a borescopic examination.
