A Pinnacle Airlines Canadair CRJ-200 on behalf of Delta Airlines, registration N8938A performing flight 9E-3899/DL-3899 from New York JFK,NY to Cleveland,OH (USA), had safely landed on Cleveland's runway 24L but during turn off skidded resulting in the nose wheels slide off paved surface and come to a stop on soft ground at about 21:46L (02:46Z Dec 22nd). No injuries and no damage occurred. The passengers disembarked onto the intersection runway/taxiway and were bussed to the terminal.

The runway was closed for about one hour.

An Airbus A320-200 on approach went around and entered a hold to assess options, encountered icing conditions in cloud and climbed further. After being told, that an aircraft had slid off runway 24L into a caravan with casualties and indefinite closure of runways 24 (length 9000 and 9950 feet/2740 and 3030 meters) and only runway 28 (length 6000 feet/1830 meters) available with no braking action reports available yet the crew decided to divert.
