Antonov An-225 at Kyiv-Hostomel, Ukraine, destroyed during military attack while parked on ground

Unconfirmed reports are coming from Kyiv Hostomel airport, home base of Antonov Airlines, that the only Antonov An-225 with registration UR-82060ever built, is possibly on fire and/or damaged after the airport has been under siege from russian attack forces for days.

Recent pictures by Maxar reveals that the free standing structure usually covering the An-225 is indeed damaged and smoke is seen rising.

 

Update March 3rd, 2022

Videos have started floating on Twitter showing extensive damage to the fuselage of the An-225. The nose of the aircraft is seen resting directly on ground.

 

Update March 4th, 2022

Images released by Russian State TV show clear damage to the front section of the right hand wing and fuselage of the An-225. Rear section still status is still unknown but the aircraft looks like a total loss at this time. The state of an unfinished An-225 airframe is not known at this time.

Update April 4h 2022

New footage from Hostomel Airport shows the extensive damage of the An-225. The airport has been taken back by Ukraine forces.
