A LAN Ecuador Airbus A320-200, registration HC-CLC performing flight XL-1441/LA-1441 from Guayaquil (Ecuador) to Buenos Aires Ezeiza,BA (Argentina), was in a holding pattern about 20nm westnorthwest of Buenos Aires' Ezeiza Ministro Pistarini Airport gradually descending to begin the approach to Buenos Aires, thunderstorms were in the area. Still in the hold having descended to 5000 feet the crew reported they had just been hit by hail causing the right hand windshield to crack. The aircraft was vectored for an approach to runway 11 and landed safely on runway 11 about 12 minutes after reporting the cracked windshield.

The return flight is currently estimated to depart with a delay of 3 hours, however is already delayed by more than 3 hours, no new estimate has been provided at this time.
