A Republic Airways Embraer ERJ-175 on behalf of American Airlines, registration N407YX performing flight AA-4535 from Oklahoma City,OK to New York La Guardia,NY (USA), was on final approach to La GUardia's runway 22 when the aircraft went around from low height (less than 300 feet AGL) reporting they had flown through a flock of geese and may have hit one. The aircraft climbed to 3000 feet and positioned for another approach to runway 22 and landed without further incident about 15 minutes after the go around.

A preceeding landing traffic had reported sighting a couple of sea gulls near the threshold of runway 22, other traffic reported a row of geese flying from the vicinity of runway 22 towards runway 31. All subsequent landing traffic was advised by tower for bird activity in the area of the runway 22 numbers.

The FAA reported: "AIRCRAFT STRUCK A BIRD DAMAGING THE ENGINE, NEW YORK, NY." (engine CF34), the aircraft sustained minor damage.
