A THY Turkish Airlines Boeing 777-300, registration TC-JJK performing flight TK-27 (dep Nov 25th) from Shanghai (China) to Istanbul (Turkey) with 272 passengers, was enroute at FL360 over the Caspian Sea when the crew initiated an emergency descent due to the loss of cabin pressure, the passenger oxygen masks were released. The aircraft levelled off at FL100 and diverted to Ankara (Turkey) about 800nm west of the Caspian Sea. The aircraft landed safely about 2 hours later.

The incident aircraft was able to depart Ankara about 3.5 hours after landing and positioned to Istanbul at FL100.

A replacement Airbus A321-200 registration TC-JRH reached Istanbul with the majority of passengers with a delay of 5 hours. The remaining passengers were rebooked onto other flights.
