A SAA South African Airways Airbus A340-300, registration ZS-SXA performing flight SA-286 (dep Nov 20th) from Johannesburg (South Africa) to Hong Kong (China) with 185 passengers and 13 crew, was enroute over the Indian Ocean about northnortheast of the Island of Mauritius when the crew descended the aircraft to FL180 due to a cracked windshield and turned south to divert to Plaisance (Mauritius), where the aircraft landed safely on runway 14.

A replacement Airbus A340-300 registration ZS-SXE was dispatched to Mauritius as flight SA-4286 and continued the journey to Hong Kong as flight SA-9286 reaching Hong Kong with a delay of 19 hours.
