A Swiss European Airlines Avro RJ-100, registration HB-IXO performing flight LX-1473 from Prague (Czech Republic) to Geneva (Switzerland) with 33 passengers and 5 crew, was on approach to Geneva's runway 05 when the crew aborted the approach and went around due to being unable to extend the speed brakes (air brakes at the tail assembly of the aircraft). The crew requested a long approach to runway 05 and advised they would fly quite a slow approach reducing speed early. The aircraft landed safely on runway 05 at a normal speed about 17 minutes after aborting the first approach.
