A Cathay Pacific Boeing 777-300, registration B-KPS performing flight CX-882 from Hong Kong (China) to Los Angeles,CA (USA) with 288 passengers and 18 crew, was enroute at FL350 about 900nm south of Anchorage,AK (USA), about 1100nm from Vancouver,BC and 1600nm from Los Angeles, when the crew needed to perform an emergency descent due to the loss of cabin pressure, the passenger oxygen masks deployed. The aircraft descended to 10,000 feet and turned north diverting to Anchorage for a safe landing.

The airline reported the aircraft experience problems with a pressure control valve resulting in a gradual loss of cabin pressure. The crew released the passenger oxygen masks.

A replacement Boeing 777-300 registration B-KPT positioned from Hong Kong to Anchorage and reached Los Angeles the following day as flight CX-882D with a delay of 26.5 hours.

The incident aircraft positioned back to Hong Kong as flight CX-3331 at normal cruise level the following day.
