Skyward F50 at Aweil on Nov 15th 2012, gear collapse, runway excursion

A Skyward International Aviation Fokker 50 on behalf of International Organisation of Migration, registration 5Y-CAN performing a charter flight from Khartoum (Sudan) to Aweil (South Sudan) with 57 people on board, landed at Aweil's Airstrip when after touchdown all gear collapsed and the aircraft went off the runway at about 17:00L (14:00Z). The aircraft came to a rest off the runway with all gear and the left wing separated, one girl received injuries to her arm and was taken to a hospital, the other occupants escaped without injuries. The aircraft sustained substantial damage.

A passenger reported that the approach appeared normal but immediately after touch down a grumbling noise occurred and the aircraft, tail number 5Y-CAN, went into the bush. After disembarking the wreckage parts of the gear were lying around, the left wing had separated with the gear still attached.

Aweil Airfield, located about 2.4nm northwest of Aweil's city center at coordinates N8.7931 E27.3603, offers an unpaved runway of about 2000 meters length running roughly along north/south direction.

Skyward International Aviation, established in 2010, operate two Fokker 50s registrations 5Y-CAN and 5Y-BYE.
