TAP A320 at Rome on Nov 11th 2012, luggage handler died

A TAP Air Portugal Airbus A320-200, registration CS-TNL performing flight TP-842 from Lisbon (Portugal) to Rome Fiumicino (Italy), had completed an uneventful flight, the aircraft had reached the gate and the passengers had already disembarked, when a luggage handler positioned the belt loader vehicle but bumped against the cargo compartment door.

Italy's ANSV reported the handler was killed in the accident, the aircraft received substantial structural damage in the accident. The ANSV opened an investigation into the accident.

The French BEA reported on Nov 28th that the ground operator started to position the luggage transloader to the rear luggage door, when the loader went up, hit the luggage door and jammed the ground operator between the loader and the luggage door.

A replacement Airbus A320-200 registration CS-TNT performed return flight TP-843 and reached Lisbon with a delay of 6.5 hours.
