An American Airlines Airbus A321-200N, registration N407AN performing flight AA-1765 from Phoenix,AZ to Dallas Ft. Worth,TX (USA), was climbing out of Phoenix when the crew stopped the climb at about FL380 due to a door squealing louder and louder, descended the aircraft to FL220 and returned to Phoenix for a safe landing about 75 minutes after departure.

A replacement A21N registration N412UW reached Dallas with a delay of 2:45 hours.

The occurrence aircraft returned to service about 50 hours after landing.
