Following landing the commander of the flight requested an immediate measurement of the friction coefficients complaining the reported braking action did not match actual braking action.
The airport said, the runway was ready to receive the aircraft in accordance with required standards.
The Ural Transport Investigation Office stated the aircraft overran the end of the runway by about half a meter as result of wet snow on the runway.
Rosaviatsia reported the aircraft overran the end of runway 26L by 20 meters/66 feet stopping with all wheels on the paved surface of the runway end safety area. At the time of landing there was "torrential snowfall", winds from 150 degrees at 2m/s (4 knots), cloud ceiling at 60m (200 feet), visibility of 4200 meters and friction value of 0.30. The passengers disembarked onto the runway via stairs and were bussed to the terminal. The airport was closed for 70 minutes as result of the overrun, one arriving flight diverted to Perm.
In a follow up report released on Nov 14th Rosaviatsia stated, that with the current friction values, wind data (reported tail wind component of 6 knots, actual 9 knots) and landing weight of the aircraft the landing distance required was computed at 1800 meters with a landing distance available of 2701 meters. The main wheels touched the runway surface about 1134 meters down the runway (past the runway threshold) at a speed of 128 KIAS (speed over ground at 137 knots), a second later the nose wheels touched down. Following touchdown only 1566 meters of runway were remaining insufficient to stop the aircraft before the end of the runway. Despite use of maximum reverse thrust with automatic braking adjusting wheel brakes to maintain a predetermined fixed deceleration, the aircraft overran the end of the runway at 20 knots over ground and stopped 32 meters past the end of the runway.
