A Volaris Airbus A320-200N, registration N528VL performing flight Y4-819 from Mexico City to Tijuana (Mexico), was climbing out of Mexico City's runway 05L when the crew stopped the climb at 12000 feet due to the right hand engine (PW1127G) rolling back and experiencing high vibrations. The aircraft returned to Mexico City for a safe landing on runway 05R about 35 minutes after departure.

Mexico's AIB rated the occurrence a serious incident and opened an investigation.

On Mar 12th 2020 the NTSB reported the aircraft experienced the failure of the right hand engine and returned to Mexico City. A post flight inspection revealed "the low pressure turbine stage 3 blades on the No. 2 engine were all fractured at various lengths."
