An Air Canada Airbus A320-200, registration C-FTJO performing flight AC-796 from Los Angeles,CA (USA) to Toronto,ON (Canada) with 145 people on board, was enroute at FL330 almost overhead Las Vegas,NV (USA) when the crew began to suspect a fuel leak at the left hand engine (CFM56) and set course for Denver,CO (USA). The crew later shut the left hand engine down, declared PAN PAN and drifted down. The aircraft landed safely on Denver's runway 34R about 100 minutes after the first suspicions and the change of course towards Denver.

Canada's TSB reported maintenance "opened the #1 engine cowlings and found fuel to be heavily pooled inside." A maintenance investigation is ongoing.
