Nearby residents had reported on Dec 18th 2019, that the aircraft had been as low as the 6th floor of their high rise buildings, when the aircraft climbed away again causing extreme noise and vibrations.
On Feb 13th 2020 Rosaviatsia responded in a letter to Aeroflot, that according to a fact check it was established the Boeing 777 had received a GPWS warning while on approach to Sheremetyevo's runway 24R and had gone around. The descent below the vertical profile was caused by the capture of a false glideslope by the aircraft systems. The analysis of the flight data recorder established a violation of the minimum safe altitude while on approach to runway 24R. Rosaviatsia acknowledged internal investigation results by Aeroflot that both flight crew had improperly performed the required procedures, the captain was dismissed, the first officer was reprimanded. Rosaviatsia trusts that the works to implement technologies so that ATC can inform flight crews about deviations from the flight path is being completed. Additional technical means are to be introduced to monitor the maneouvering area of Sheremetyevo's runway 3 (06L/24R).
Sheremetyevo's new runway 06L/24R had been opened and received first flights on Sep 19th 2019.
According to Mode-S data transmitted by the aircraft the aircraft had descended to 1054 feet MSL. The actual Mode-S altitude reading was 1225 feet, with this value corrected for QNH the aircraft was at 1054 feet MSL and 411 feet AGL (ground elevation 643 feet) at that point.
