An American Airlines Boeing 777-200, registration N799AN performing flight AA-45 from Paris Charles de Gaulle (France) to New York JFK,NY (USA), was in the flare to JFK's runway 04R when the aircraft flew through a flock of geese just past the runway threshold and initiated a go around. While climbing to 3000 feet the crew advised they might have an engine (Trent 892) problem and requested to stay on tower frequency and requested runway 04L for landing. The crew landed safely on runway 04L about 7 minutes after the go around. The crew advised they suspected a couple of birds at the approach end (=threshold) of runway 04R.

The FAA reported the aircraft received damage to its right hand engine when it struck a large flock of geese.
