The aircraft climbed to FL340 for the return. Near Moscow (Russia) the engine was shut down due to low oil pressure, the aircraft drifted down to FL300 and continued to London Heathrow for a safe landing on runway 27R about 10 hours after departure from Heathrow Airport.

The rotation BA-11/BA-12 was cancelled, the passengers were rebooked onto other flights.

The incident aircraft, that had performed its first flight following 10 days of maintenance, resumed service on Oct 29th about 36 hours after landing back at Heathrow.

Passengers reported that the captain first announced technical problems explaining there were problems with the oil pressure of an engine, later he announced that the engine needed to be shut down due to low oil pressure.
