A Nordstar Avion de Transport Regional ATR-42-500, registration VQ-BKO performing flight TYA-51 from Krasnojarsk to Tura (Russia) with 44 passengers and 3 crew, was enroute about 90nm northeast of Krasnojarsk when the crew decided to return to Krasnojarsk due to shaking of the airframe. The aircraft landed safely back in Krasnojarsk.

Rosaviatsia reported that examination of the airframe revealed substantial ice on the surfaces of the wings and fuselage. The aircraft had been de-iced prior to departure.

Rosaviatsia added later, that the ice deposits on the fuselage, upper surface of the wings as well as the propeller of the right hand engine suggest that the de-icing had not been completed although 388 liters of arctic type 1 agent were used over a period of 30 minutes. The aircraft had been parked for 63 hours prior to departure in rain and sleet with a temperature transition from above freezing to below freezing. As consequence of the preliminary investigation results two employees of Krasnojarsk's airports responsible for de-icing the aircraft were removed from their posts because of "careless attitude towards their duties".
