A JAL Boeing 787-8, registration JA831J performing flight JL-707 from Tokyo Narita (Japan) to Bangkok (Thailand) with 189 people on board, was enroute at FL400 about 320nm southwest of Tokyo when the crew decided to return to Tokyo due to the aircraft muttering and growling at the right hand forward main door and passengers complaining about the noise and vibrations. The aircraft landed safely back in Tokyo about 2 hours after departure.

The airline reported a little gap was found in the door seal through which air probably was able to escape, although the cabin pressure remained constant. The aircraft returned to Tokyo as a precaution.

The flight was cancelled. The occurrence aircraft returned to service about 37 hours after landing back.
