A SAS Scandinavian Airlines Airbus A320-200N, registration EI-SIF performing flight SK-793 from Copenhagen (Denmark) to Nice (France) with 146 people on board, was enroute at FL390 about 15nm northwest of Lugano (Switzerland) when the crew detected indications of a possible fuel leak and decided to divert to Milan Malpensa. The aircraft landed safely on Malpensa's runway 35R about 22 minutes after leaving FL390.

A replacement Airbus A321-200 registration OY-KBB was dispatched to Milan, continued the flight and reached Nice with a delay of 8 hours.

Passengers reported after landing they remained on board for about 20 minutes, a strong smell of gasoline developed.

The airline reported the crew received indications of a possible fuel leak prompting them to react and divert the aircraft to Milan.
