An observer on the ground became aware of the aircraft stopped on the turn off some time after landing, then noticed a number of ground staff looking at and taking pictures of the nose gear and subsequently noticed the right hand nose wheel was missing. About 30 minutes after landing the passengers disembarked onto the taxiway and were bussed to the terminal.
The airline reported that the aircraft had landed smoothly on runway 15, the crew noticed however that during roll out the aircraft felt less stable than usual, vacated the runway and stopped on the taxiway to have maintenance check the aircraft. Maintenance found the right nose wheel loose on the axle in a slanting position, removed the wheel from the axle and found the bearing was defective. The passengers disembarked onto the taxiway.
The aircraft was able to position to Zurich (Switzerland) on Oct 21st after about 40 hours on the ground and subsequently resumed service.
