A Swiss International Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration HB-IOD performing flight LX-724 from Zurich (Switzerland) to Amsterdam (Netherlands) with 165 people on board, departed Zurich's runway 28 and was climbing out when the aircraft received a lightning strike. The crew stopped the climb at FL210 and decided to return to Zurich, where the aircraft landed safely on runway 14 about 38 minutes after departure.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Zurich. The flight was cancelled.

The airline reported the aircraft received a lightning strike. Although the crew did not observe any abnormal indication the crew decided to return to Zurich in line with company procedures.
