A TUI Airways Boeing 737-800, registration G-FDZT performing flight BY-1454 from Edinburgh,SC (UK) to Arrecife,CI (Spain), was climbing out of Edinburgh's runway 24 when the crew stopped the climb at FL150 as result of a bird strike. The aircraft diverted to Glasgow,SC (UK) for a safe landing on runway 23 about 50 minutes after departure.

A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration G-TAWA reached Arrecife with a delay of 10.5 hours.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground in Glasgow for about 28 hours after landing, then resumed service.

On Jun 21st 2019 The Aviation Herald learned the right hand engine received damage as result of the bird strike.
