An Alitalia Airbus A330-200, registration EI-EJH performing flight AZ-604 from Milan Malpensa (Italy) to New York JFK,NY (USA), was climbing out of Malpensa's runway 35L when the crew stopped the climb at 6000 feet due to the gear not fully retracting. The aircraft burned off fuel and returned to Malpensa for a safe landing on runway 35R about 85 minutes after departure.

A replacement A330-200 registration EI-EJO reached New York with a delay of 7.5 hours.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Milan about 32 hours after landing back.
